Presenting our
2009/2010 Teams The Rhythmettes
The Petite Rhythmettes The Mini Rhythmettes
Miss Mona's signature performing groups, The Rhythmettes, have enjoyed great success performing throughout the Roanoke Valley and surrounding areas for over 50 years. The Rhythmettes, along with their sister groups, The Sunshine Kids, and their younger counterparts, The Sunbeams, have often been seen as entertainment for pageants, festivals, local television programs, and were even featured as the only children's group invited to perform at Roanoke's Bicentennial Celebration. Their traditional song-and-dance styling showcase their Broadway roots on which Miss Mona's was founded. Today, The Rhythmettes still enjoy performing in all different venues, as well as in dance competitions.
Please be sure you are checking the Rhythmettes bulletin board for fundraising opportunities and other important announcements!

Miss Mona's Rhythmettes
enjoy performing throughout the area, as well as competing locally,
regionally, and nationally. We love performing community service at
functions such as the Gingerbread Festival, Dickens of a Christmas, and
the annual Salute to Veterans at the VA Hospital. We are so excited to
welcome the Mini Rhythmettes to our group this year, and to begin
competition season for 2010!
How do I Become a Rhythmette, or a member of a Competition Group? It is an honor to be chosen for Miss Mona's competition group or Performance Company. Faculty and staff of Miss Mona's will facilitate any type of audition necessary to choose new members. Although performance ability is very important, they will also pay particular attention to conduct, carriage, poise, attention span, work ethic, cooperativeness, ability to learn choreography, attitude, and overall appearance. If chosen for the competition groups or Performance Company, members are required to take tap, ballet, and jazz classes during summer as well. If a student is not ready for a performing group, but shows potential, they may be selected to take the company classes and work toward being chosen for the performing company. Not every student will perform in every area or dance, however all company members will take all company classes regardless of their placement in performing groups. Once committing to membership in the Rhythmettes, or a competition group, students may be removed from a particular performance or from the company temporarily or permanently if they fail to follow the regulations of the company. Removal or suspension from the company or class will be done by unanimous decision of the staff and will be based on conduct, respect, responsibility, commitment, failure to prepare for performance, and attendance. Extenuating circumstances, such as illness, will be taken into consideration by faculty. All decisions are at the discretion of the Artistic Director. Students over age 10, AND their parent or guardian will be required to sign a commitment and waiver form in order to participate.
Congratulations to all our performers on a fun weekend at Dance Machine Regionals 2009! As always, you made us so proud, both onstage and off!
